Neck Guards

Posted by Oceanside MHA at Jul 18, 2018 10:48AM PDT

Parents, have you been spending Summer days shopping for hockey gear? Here is an important reminder regarding neck guards.

Hockey Canada Rule 3.6 (f) states, “The wearing of a BNQ approved throat protector is compulsory for players registered in minor and female hockey.” On all major brands of equipment, the BNQ logo is clearly visible on the front or side of the neck guard. If there is no logo, the neck guard is not acceptable.

Please be mindful of this rule when considering purchasing integrated hockey neck tops, i.e. shirts with built in throat protection. If you have questions about appropriate gear for your child, please email riskmanager@oceansidehockey.com.

Currently the number of players registered for each of our (4) competitive teams (Atom Development, Peewee, Bantam, and Midget Competitive Divisions) is either close to or below the minimum required to host a team.

As a result, OMHA is setting a deadline of June 25th for any player wanting the opportunity to try out and play on one of our competitive teams. In the event that we still do not have enough players registered by the June 25th deadline to host a team, we will do our best to provide an option/s for those players who were registered before the June 25th deadline. Please note that the option/s will not be provided to any player who decides to register after the June 25thdeadline.

OMHA remains hopeful that we will receive a number of registrations over the next couple of weeks and are able to host teams in all (4) of the Competitive Divisions. However, we recognize that if we are not able to offer a program for those players registered that we will do our best to provide them with option/s to still take part in the Competitive Divisions. Having a registration deadline of June 25th will allow us time to arrange these option/s, if required.
Please note if you are interested in trying out for a zone team you must register with your home association first.
