Coaches are needed for our U11 Development team as well as our U13, U15 and U18 Competitive teams. The Coaches Application Form can be found on the Oceanside Minor Hockey website under FORMS-Coaches Application Form. Please complete and forward to Ryan Murphy at firstname.lastname@example.org before June 15, 2023.
We also need coaches for all our recreation (house) teams from U6 through U21. Please complete and forward the Coaches Application Form to Rob Bertrand at email@example.com before August 7, 2023.
Please note that no coach/assistant coach/helper will be allowed on the ice until you have a current Criminal Record Check on file and your Respect in Sport for Activity Leader has not expired. If you are unsure if you need to update either of those requirements, contact Marusha Whitehead at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This includes the conditioning camp ice and the rep tryout ice as well as the regular season ice.
Last Thursday, May 4 was the 2022/2023 AGM of Oceanside Minor Hockey.
We had the opportunity to say goodbye to some long-time executive members and welcome some new faces. We also had a couple of members who, at the last minute, decided to stay on the board for another term at least.
We say goodbye to our treasurer, Kris Harvey. She has been an executive member for quite some time and we will miss her experience, her wisdom and most of all her “sure I can do that” attitude.
Goodbye to Jan Hendriks, our Development Coordinator. In his time with OMHA, Jan set up an excellent development schedule and laid the ground work for future development sessions.
We also say goodbye to Amy Murphy, our Recreational Coordinator. Amy will be taking her “hockey is everything” attitude to the Oceanside Generals Junior B hockey team.
Goodbye to Denise Spencer-Dahl, our Tournament/Jamboree Coordinator. Her efficiency in coordinating dates, ice and referees for all the tournaments/jamborees will be greatly missed.
Jordan Almond has moved from the Coach Coordinator position to take on the responsibilities of 1st Vice President and Leslie Baynes will continue on with her 2nd Vice President duties. Marusha Whitehead was persuaded to stay on for another term in the Risk Manager position that she does so well.
OMHA is excited to welcome Mike Mowat, Aimee Dunn and Sarah Orr to the executive committee of Oceanside Minor Hockey.
Mike Mowat has many many years of hockey experience and will be an outstanding addition to the board as Development Coordinator.
Aimee Dunn will take on the Treasurer position. Aimee has many years of volunteer experience and has the “anything I can do to help” attitude which is so important for exectutive members.
Sarah Orr has many years of hockey experience and we are looking foward to watching how she puts her spin on the position of Recreational Coordinator.
Unfortunately two positions still need to be filled. These are the Coach Coordinator and Tournament/Jamboree Coordinator positions. Prior executive members for these positions will be available for assistance and any questions you may have over the course of the season. If you are interested in either one of these positions. please email me at email@example.com. These are positions that play vital roles in the hockey season. Without a Tournament/Jamboree Coordinator, we will not be able to host any tournaments or jamborees.
We need to fill the positions of Division Coordinators for U11, U13, U15 and U18 Recreation. These are not executive positions but these coordinators will be working with Sarah, Leslie and the hockey teams in their division to ensure each team is having the time of their lives. If you think you might be interested in any of these positions, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We also took the time to honor and present our annual awards. The recipients of these awards are all well-deserving and are:
Mike Mowat – Volunteer of the Year
Mason Baynes – U18 Competitive Leadership Award
Willem Whitehead – U18 Competitive Merit Award
The last item on the agenda was the draw to perhaps have all or part of your child’s registration cost paid for by OMHA. The winners were:
Nora Tsutsumi – full registration paid by OMHA
Carter Mowat – 1/2 registration paid by OMHA
Brady Kerr – 1/2 registratin paid by OMHA
Only three more months until hockey starts again – see you all soon.

See you then.
